Ministry official visits Social Welfare Sector

-

KUWAIT CITY, April 15: Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs Abdulaziz Sari recently visited the Social Welfare Sector to greet the wards on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr as part of the annual tradition of the ministry during Eid, reports Al-Anba daily.

In a press statement on the sidelines of the visit, Sari affirmed the ministry’s commitment, along with its officials, to greet the wards of the sector; including the elderly, juveniles and family nurseries. He said all workers are keen on spending time with the wards on every occasion.

He added: “We are one family -- the wards and workers in the ministry. From this standpoint and in accordance with the recommendations of Minister of Social Affairs Sheikh Firas Al-Saud, we have always been keen to be present and greet them on Eid holiday.”

On reasons for extending the debt payment campaign until April 20, he explained this is in accordance with the directive of the minister to give a chance to more government agencies, private institutions and cooperative societies to participate in the campaign; especially since many entities have expressed their desire to donate and their donations were delayed due to the documentary cycle.

Asked about the payment mechanism and limit for paying debts, Sari revealed no concept has been approved. He said a committee was formed whose members are from the ministries of Social Affairs, Justice and Endowments, as well as the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies and Union of Charitable Societies and Charities. At the end of the campaign, the committee will meet to lay down the mechanism based on the total amount of donations, he added.

On the new projects of the sector, he revealed the sector is currently working on the relocation of the Juvenile Welfare Department to the new complex; indicating the current location will be used for the expansion of other departments.
