Kuwait University allegedly allocates graduate program seats for citizens of certain countries
KUWAIT CITY, April 16: According to informed sources, the Ministry of Public Works has agreed to assign the design and implementation of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate Court Complex project, the Family Court and the parking building to its technical staff. This is based on a request from the Ministry of Justice, as the beneficiary of the project, which will be implemented for its benefit with the aim of providing and facilitating litigation procedures for residents of the governorate.
The sources indicated that three plots of land were allocated for the project in West Abu Fatira, after the Ministry of Justice received the site boundaries from the Kuwait Municipality.
They said a plot of land of 5,000 square meters was allocated for the family court building, another of 10,000 square meters for the court complex building, and another of 5,000 square meters for a multi-storey parking building.
The sources explained that the Ministry of Public Works is coordinating with the Ministry of Justice’s Engineering Projects Department, to complete the project. The project completion period was estimated at 90 months, which includes the preliminary study, advertising, contracting, design, and the implementation phase for a period of 36 months. The total cost of the project was also determined at KD 72 million.
The Ministry of Public Works is awaiting the Ministry of Finance’s approval of the Ministry of Justice’s request to approve the project within the budget of the Ministry of Justice for the 2024/2025 fiscal year.

KU to allocate seats: Kuwait University has approved the proposal of the College of Graduate Studies to allocate seats in graduate programs for the citizens of countries with diplomatic representation in Kuwait, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.
Sources confirmed that the university has adopted the suggestion of the dean of the college to allot one seat in programs that accept less than 10 students and two in programs that accept more than 10 students.
Sources clarified the total number of seats granted to each diplomatic body should not exceed the seats specified above for each program within the applicable academic year.
Sources said there must be competition and comparison between applicants to fill these seats if the number of applicants is higher than the allocated seats. They also stressed the need to apply the general admission and program conditions for these applicants to complete the admission process. They added the embassies will be addressed in this regard through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
