Biography: Faten Al-Naqeeb
Founder and Head of Al-Naqeeb & Partners Law firm, Attorney Al-Naqeeb has earned her bachelor degree from the Faculty of Law at Kuwait University in 1987 and Master’s degree in International Law from Cambridge College UK. She has diploma in international contract drafting and negotiations high skills from the Communicate Institute at University of London . Licensed in Kuwait as a practicing lawyer before the High Appeal, Cassation and Constitutional Courts, Al-Naqeeb has over 28 years of experience in all aspects of Kuwaiti law, GCC and Middle East laws, including extensive experience in mega infrastructure projects, project finance, and all aspects of the oil and gas industry. Al-Naqeeb’s practice areas include general corporate and commercial matters, IT, banking, insurance, and securities laws in addition to oversight of the firm’s international and local practice in Kuwait.
Al-Naqeeb served as legal consultant and as head of the Kuwait Legal Group responsible for reviewing and submitting the Kuwaiti Government Compensation Claims against Iraq to the United Nations Compensation Commission and as a representative of the Kuwaiti government. Attorney Al-Naqeeb has received several awards for her work and expertise such as authoring several research and academic publications on LexisNexis and the World Bank. More prominently, she was invited to give her professional opinion at institutions such as, International Court of Arbitration of the international Chamber of Commerce (ICC), US District Court for the District of Columbia, Superior Court of Delaware for Newcastle Count, US District Court for the district of Maryland Greenbelt Division, US District Court for Southern District of Indiana Evansville Division, Superior Court of Delaware and the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
She is counseling several US oil companies in understanding the Kuwaiti oil sector and the ramifications of Kuwaiti constitutional law on their transactions. She has counseled EXXON Mobil in their bid for production sharing agreement in the northern fields. She has counseled numerous suppliers and contractors in their bids to KPC and KNPC subsidiaries such as ABB Vetro and Elsag Bailey; Battelle Memorial Institute; BGP; Black & Veatch and Textron’s Union Pump.
She regularly serves as local Kuwaiti counsel for US and European financial institutions in financing various transactions and represent US companies in all aspects of their business activities in Kuwait and the region. Served on a regular basis as an expert before the Courts of the US, and other countries on the laws of Arab countries including Kuwaiti, Iraqi and the laws of the UAE.
