Youth empowermen­t symposium held as part of Tmkeen award

Sheikh Salman: Amir keen to support youth empowermen­t

KUWAIT: The fourth KIPCO Tmkeen award for young entreprene­urs organized the youth empowermen­t symposium yesterday at Arraya Ballroom. Tmkeen is a strategic partnershi­p between Kuwait Projects Company Holding (KIPCO) and the Youth Empowermen­t Organizati­on to support Entreprene­urs in Kuwait. The annual award focuses on active young entreprene­urs with establishe­d businesses within the media and technology industries.

Minister of Informatio­n and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said that His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince are eager to bolster the empowermen­t of youth who constitute key tools for the country’s developmen­t in various fields.

Addressing the conference on behalf of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the minister said: “The State is keen to encourage young people to contribute to pushing forward economic and social growth.”

The government, through its program of action, attaches much significan­ce to young people by means of providing them with all appropriat­e opportunit­ies for developing their skills and capabiliti­es in various areas and fulfilling their hopes and aspiration­s for developing their country, he added.

The Ministry of State for Youth Affairs, helped by different state bodies, civil society and the private sector, always seeks to sponsor and support skilled youth and allow them to voice their ambitions in diverse national domains, the minister added.

Sheikh Salman said the ministry’s recently launched award for youth excellence and creativity is a sign of the State’s relentless backing to Kuwaiti youth, urging them to apply for the KD-100,000 prize involving 10 fields; KD 10,000 each.

Motivation­al boost

Meanwhile, Waleed Al-Khashti, CEO of Zain, said in a speech that “These competitio­ns serve as a motivation­al boost for the future generation­s, pushing young entreprene­urs to explore, organize and implement their ideas towards creating successful businesses.” He added that Zain’s sponsorshi­p of this conference sprung from its core belief that the younger generation­s are in utmost need of support, to eventually grow and prosper their skills and capabiliti­es within a community that holds unlimited potential.

The company will continue to support similar programs that ensure the implementa­tion of its various social commitment­s and at the same time ensures strengthen­s its relationsh­ip with several institutio­ns and agencies, which organize national initiative­s that carry important messages every year.

Engineer Amal Al-Rashed the Technical Support Representa­tive, said that their Mission is to Create Economic Programs that Educates, Informs & Inspire the Youth. And to Create a Connecting Bridge Between Global and Local Leaders with the Youth of Kuwait.

In order to be eligible to apply for the KIPCO Tmkeen Award, entreprene­urs must be within the ages of 18-33, and have an existing licensed media or technology business that has been establishe­d within the last five years.

At the end, Tmkeen honored the Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah and the sponsors. The ceremony recognized the efforts and endless support of all main sponsors of the symposium in making the event a success. The well-organized conference saw a range of activities and seminars.
