Bhavan organizes Model United Nations
The Indian Educational School (Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan) organized a spectacular interschool Model United Nations - A simulation of the United Nations Conference with the support and guidance of UNDP in Kuwait. The awe-inspiring event was organized by the brilliant brainiacs of Bhavan under the aegis of the Social Studies Department of IES. The event was conducted in the IES auditorium. The students, the teachers, and the invitees were present in the auditorium to witness the epical event unfurls in all shades of glory and grandeur.
The preparations of this mega event began well in advance. The remarkable feature of this event was indeed the online registration and an array of training sessions conducted by the members of the Social Studies faculty. The topics chosen for discussion were‘Socio Economic Impact of the Current Financial Crisis in Greece’, ‘Disposal of Ewaste’and the Impact of Falling Oil Prices on the Middle East Countries.’
The students handpicked from nine Indian schools in Kuwait. Adam Aba Husain, Partnership and Liaison Associate at the UN Resident Coordinator Office was the Chief Guest for the day. The presence of this towering personality added luster to the event in abundance. Adam was highly appreciative of the manner in which the event was conducted. He lavished praises on IES for organizing MUN in its campus for the benefit of the student community. He extolled the confidence of the participants. He also lauded them for their extensive research in connection with MUN. He urged the participants to be the true global citizens of tomorrow.
The event was adjudged by eminent Toastmasters and professionals who have carved a niche for themselves in their chosen fields of career. Baburaj Parakat, Susheel Mathew and Nancy Vijo were the judges for the day who have adjudged the speeches of the participants. The judges congratulated the winners on their remarkable achievements. They did not hide their awe for the well-learnt prodigies who impressed the audience with their display of indepth knowledge of the issues pertaining to international politics and the current global socio-economic concerns.
Two of the participants were given an opportunity to share their views on the conduct of the event. They expressed their satisfaction for having been chosen to represent their countries of choice in the MUN. The participants congratulated the organizers for organizing an event of great magnitude in the most spectacular manner. They also thanked them for their congeniality and professionalism.
T Premkumar, the principal, IES presented a memento as a token of reverence and gratitude to the Chief Guest Adam Aba Husain amid thunderous applause. He congratulated the participants on their performance. He thanked the principals and the teachers of the participating schools for their support. He expressed his gratitude to them for having instilled confidence in the participants to attend MUN and voice their opinions about various international political issues much to the awe of all. The event came to an end with the prize distribution ceremony. The emcee of the event was Miss Rajsi Anant of grade 10. Pratyusha, Secretary General, Vanshika was the chairperson and Master. Sudhrashan Sundarrajan was the vice chairperson who controlled the assembly proceedings.
