KNPC completes environment friendly high voltage plant
KUWAIT: The Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) announced the completion of a high voltage power plant of 132kV for an environment-friendly project that is being carried out at Mina Abdullah and Mina Al-Ahmadi refineries.
This plant is the first of its kind in the country’s oil sector; it will provide electricity to environment-friendly power units in Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery, KNPC spokesman Khaled Al-Asousi, who also doubles as Deputy CEO, told the press yesterday.
He pointed out that the plant’s withstand was tested on circuit breakers; a tricky and hard test. The test was carried out ‘successfully’ under supervision of engineers from the German Siemens company, a major contractor of the project. The test will be re-done with a 300kV on circuit breakers at Mina Abdullah, once the Ministry’s approval is obtained. —KUNA
