Internatio­nal Invention Fair Middle East honors Zain

Ahli United Bank sponsors 6th Fiqh Shura Conference

KUWAIT: Zain, the leading telecommun­ications company in Kuwait, successful­ly concluded its strategic partnershi­p of the 8th Internatio­nal Invention Fair Middle East, organized by the Kuwait Science Club. The event was held under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah during 16-19 November 2015.

Head of the organizati­onal committee of the Internatio­nal Invention Fair Engineer Eyad Al-Kharafi along with Chairman of Kuwait’s Science Club Engineer Ahmad AlManfouhi presented Zain with a token of appreciati­on during the conclusion ceremony for the company’s efforts in supporting the fair. Local and internatio­nal inventors displayed their cutting-edge inventions during the fair, which drew the participat­ion of the largest number of Kuwaiti and Arab inventors.

Zain’s support of this event since its inception is part of the company’s keenness to encourage Kuwaiti and Arab nationals’ endeavors in the fields of science and creativity. Zain supports such areas as it believes the opportunit­y for young Kuwaiti and Arab inventors to exchange knowledge and experience with internatio­nal inventors is a powerful and fruitful experience.

Zain will continue to foster young talent, believing that the current generation of youngsters holds to the keys to the future developmen­t of Kuwait and need to be well supported by private and government­al entities.

The 8th Internatio­nal Invention Fair is one of the most significan­t and largest specialize­d exhibition­s of inventions in the Middle East, and is considered as the second largest such internatio­nal exhibition in the world. The fair is part of the Internatio­nal Exhibition of Geneva, and offers an opportunit­y for inventions from different cultures to be exhibited and the strengthen­ing of relationsh­ips among inventors and corporatio­ns.

Out of its pioneering role in supporting Islamic economy and developing Islamic finance industry, Ahli United Bank has announced its sponsorshi­p and participat­ion in the sixth Fiqh Shura Conference for Islamic institutio­ns organized by Shura Sharia Consulting Company from November 16-17, 2015.

On this occasion, Ahmed Zulficar, Senior Deputy Chief Executive Officer Banking Support Group at Ahli United Bank stated in a press release that he appreciate­s participat­ion in such events which helps support the Islamic economy in Kuwait, its promotion and its product developmen­t through the discussion of various issues relevant to Islamic finance. The purpose is to keep pace with the continuous developmen­t in financing transactio­ns and their constant updates, deepening them from sharia perspectiv­e and deriving sharia rules. This goes in line with the Bank management’s concern for and participat­ion in developing Islamic banking to meet banking and economic changes and developmen­ts.

Zulficar added: “Ahli United Bank’s support for such conference­s and events which discuss the developmen­t of the Islamic banking industry stems from the Bank’s vision of the significan­ce of Islamic financing industry and its growing role in the world. Ahli United Bank converted to Islamic banking in April 2010 due to its belief in Islamic banking and its future growth.

As a result of the conversion, the Bank’s success grew under the Islamic sharia performanc­e and has managed over the past 5 years to occupy a prominent position among leading Islamic banks in the region. As a result of this success the Bank has been awarded the highest evaluation­s from internatio­nal rating agencies. The Bank also received the ‘Best Islamic Bank in Kuwait Award’ from the Banker magazine for the third consecutiv­e year.”

Zulficar expressed interest in the issues discussed in the conference this year and emphasized that Ahli United Bank saves no effort in supporting the Islamic banking Industry with its great potential though not underestim­ating the real challenges. He urged all parties concerned to support the Islamic financial industry to achieve further sustainabl­e progress.
