Palestinian Culture Center opens 43rd exhibition at Bayt Lothan
KUWAIT: The Palestinian Culture Center held its 43rd exhibition at Bayt Lothan yesterday, with stylish Palestinian dresses on display. Siham Abu Ghazaleh, in charge of the exhibition, expressed her happiness seeing people supporting Palestine by buying beautiful handmade works made by 550 women and girls in Palestinian camps in Jordan. She said this year, the Palestinian women made dresses in a new style that can match the Kuwaitis’ style in fashion.
“The exhibition aims to preserve the rich heritage and culture of Palestine, help empower women and their families in refugee camps become economically independent and sustain needy Palestinians in their homeland and the diaspora,” she said. Abu Ghazaleh told Kuwait Times that this year, new books in English and Arabic are available. “The most interesting book that we have this year in our exhibition is Mohammad Ghosheh’s book that talks about Al-Aqsa. His book is unbelievable - he describes every single detail of Al-Aqsa Mosque that you can see through your imagination by his words,” she said, adding that kids also can find interesting stories and educational books that talk about Palestine.
“The proceeds of this exhibition are for Jerusalem, as we always try to help and support Jerusalem and Palestinians, especially now,” said Abu Ghazaleh. She called on people to support Palestine by supporting the exhibition. She invited people to attend a Palestinian folklore “dabkah” dance that Al-Mejanah band will perform with Maher Al-Ateli on Thursday at 6:30 pm, and a Palestinian poetry session by Bushra Abu Sabra. Women at the exhibition have prepared a “good deeds plate” with traditional Palestinian food such as thyme, sumac, baked goods and other dishes.
The exhibition at Bayt Lothan in Salmiya will run for four days from Monday, November 23 through Thursday, November 26. It is open to the public from 10 am to 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
