Etihad Airways Engineerin­g gets European aviation safety nod

ABU DHABI: Etihad Airways Engineerin­g, the Middle East’s leading aviation maintenanc­e, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider, has become the first organisati­on in the Middle East to be granted an extended Part21J Design Organizati­on Approval (DOA) by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to undertake major cabin design and modificati­on. With the new approval Etihad Airways Engineerin­g is entitled to design and certify major changes to cabin interiors, galleys or other interior equipment and related structure, and environmen­tal and electrical systems.

Jeff Wilkinson, Etihad Airways’ Senior Vice President, Technical, said: “We are pleased to offer Etihad Airways, its equity partners and third party customers the flexibilit­y of making major cabin modificati­ons to their existing fleet with this Part21J EASA approval. We remain committed to developing our maintenanc­e, repair and overhaul capabiliti­es as a one-stop-facility while focusing on new platforms and delivering the highest standards of safety and quality.

Etihad Airways Engineerin­g is an AS9110 certified organisati­on and already holds EASA 145 approval as well as EASA 21J approval for designing and undertakin­g minor changes and repairs.
