Bud­get sus­tain­abil­ity vi­tal is­sue: Min­is­ter

KUWAIT: The topic of bud­get sus­tain­abil­ity is a vi­tal one that was rec­om­mended by pre­vi­ous stud­ies, Min­is­ter of So­cial Af­fairs and La­bor and Min­is­ter of State for Plan­ning and De­vel­op­ment Hind Al-Subaih has said. A state­ment by the Sec­re­tariat of the Supreme Coun­cil for Plan­ning and De­vel­op­ment (SCPD) yes­ter­day quoted the Min­is­ter as say­ing that she un­der­stands the topic in light of the state reliance on oil by up to 93 per­cent as the ma­jor source of na­tional in­come. Subaih made the state­ment at a panel ses­sion held on Wed­nes­day un­der the ti­tle ‘sus­tain­abil­ity of Kuwait’s bud­get,’ the SCPD said. The min­is­ter noted that she would move pos­i­tively on the topic with min­is­ters and MPs, re­it­er­at­ing ea­ger­ness by the SCPD to pre­pare a rel­e­vant re­port, in­volv­ing econ­o­mists. The re­port will of­fer rec­om­men­da­tions for solv­ing the prob­lems of wage and sub­sidy in­fla­tion, based on a def­i­nite timetable, she noted. — KUNA
