Petrochemi­cal Industries updates work methods

KUWAIT: Kuwait Petrochemi­cal Industries Company (PIC) yesterday announced graduating trainees who won green and black belts in Six Sigma category for updating work methods. Chief Executive Officer Asaad AlSaad said, during a ceremony for projects’ presentati­on at the last day of the training session on Six Sigma methodolog­y, that the company was the first to apply this mechanism in the oil sector.

The company is committed to applying the Six Sigma methodolog­y, which is a data-driven approach, and training personnel in the KPIC and other oil companies. Six Sigma method is aimed at enhancing client’s content, slashing costs, minimizing flaws and realizing optimum performanc­e. It is one of the most accredited ‘philosophi­es’ for enhancing quality of services and operations, he said, noting that the company with this approach saved more than $188 million in the past eight years.

More than 550 Six Sigma projects have already been executed. Up to 120 personnel have been trained for acquiring the green belt, in addition to 28 others seeking to win the black belt. —KUNA
