Block removed to allow paying traffic fines

Tanker driver arrested for dumping waste

KUWAIT: The Interior Ministry’s Assistant Undersecre­tary for Traffic Affairs Major Gen Abdallah Al-Muhanna said the department is exerting all possible efforts to allow citizens and expatriate­s to process their transactio­ns easily and simply without any complicati­ons. He said this comes at the instructio­ns of Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Sabah. He said that within this measure, the block on all traffic violations for 2014 will be removed so that citizens and expats can pay their fines. He said as for 2015 violations, the block will be removed except for driving a vehicle without a license, racing without a permit, recklessne­ss, endangerin­g passengers’ lives and using the vehicle for purposes other than what it was licensed for (transporti­ng passengers for money), as the block will remain until the legal process is taken. The block will be lifted for one month starting Dec 1, 2015. Muhanna said paying fines can be done through the interior ministry website and violation department­s in all governorat­es or service centers.

Camping season

The Interior Ministry’s Assistant Undersecre­tary for General Security Maj Gen Abdelfatta­h Al-Ali said his sector is ready for the camping season, as part of the interior ministry’s efforts to maintain security and face all negative activities during the season. He said department­s participat­ing in the security are security, traffic, civil defense, detectives, emergency, municipali­ty, fire and medical emergencie­s. He said the plan covers all areas of Kuwait, and asked citizens to cooperate with policemen and comply with the law.

Children found

The Interior Ministry’s Department of Relations and Security Informatio­n said that three children reported missing by their Kuwaiti father were found safe and sound with their mother. The department said in a statement that the children were in good health, and were sent to the concerned police station to take legal action. Criminal detectives carried out extensive efforts to determine the whereabout­s of the children, who went missing due to family disputes.

Industrial waste

Environmen­t police arrested a tanker truck driver dumping industrial waste in a sandy area near the airport runway wire fence on the Seventh Ring Road. Airport security noticed the truck and a very large black spot in the area, so they called environmen­t police, who called Mubarak Al-Kabeer hazardous material center to analyze the substance, and found it was a caustic chemical. The driver said the industrial waste is from a petrochemi­cal factory he deals with, and he was supposed to take the material to the Wafra industrial waste treatment station. He was sent to the Environmen­t Public Authority. Article 29 of the Environmen­t Protection Law includes a ban on disposing waste of all types in environmen­tally undesignat­ed areas. Article 131 of the same law says any person who violates article 29 will be jailed for a minimum of three years and a maximum of 10 years, and a fine of a minimum of KD 20,000 and a maximum of KD 200,000.

Abandoned boats

Environmen­t police also carried out a campaign to remove abandoned boats in the Khuwaisat chalets’ area in cooperatio­n with the Municipali­ty, Jahra Governorat­e and the Public Authority for Agricultur­al Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR). Ten boats were removed and a vehicle used to tow the boats.
