Hungarian musical concert held at Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah
KUWAIT: As part of the cultural season of Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah, a Hungarian musical concert titled ‘Hungarian Romance - Music of Franz Liszt’ was held on Wednesday at the Yarmouk Cultural Center in cooperation with the Hungarian Embassy in Kuwait. Three young musicians performed at this concert Marcell Szabo, Sara Deak and Barnabas Baranyai - using various musical instruments including the piano, cello and violin.
Hungarian Ambassador to Kuwait Mihaly Bayer said the main reason for holding such events is to present Hungarian music to the Kuwaiti audience. “The embassy has held similar concerts for the past three years, so people become familiar with our culture. The program of this concert is great and the music romantic,” he told the Kuwait Times.
Such events strengthen the bilateral cultural relationship between Kuwait and Hungary. “Also, when these musicians return to Hungary, they will tell the people there about their good experience and about the success of the concert. This concert was special as it was presented by young musicians, and they did very well,” added Bayer.
According to him, cultural exchange between the two countries is stronger presently. “In the past, cultural exchange was less than now, as now there are more events taking place here. The Hungarian government is strongly encouraging cultural activities, and the Music Academy in Budapest is very popular and is graduating famous artists,” he pointed out.
More cultural events will be held in Kuwait in the future. “At the end of this month (October 30), a Hungarian movie titled: ‘Children of Glory’ will be screened here at 7:00 pm. It’s about two friends, a girl and boy, and how the revolution affected their life and relationship. I hope that people will come and enjoy watching it,” concluded Bayer.
