Australian Business Group organizes networking event

-

The Australian Business Group in Kuwait organized a networking event followed by a lecture for Dr Usameh Jamali, Advisor to the Chairman at the Australian College Kuwait on “Middle East Issues: Palestine, Iraq & Oil” in the Australian Ambassador’s Residence. Over 80 business leaders from a host of companies in Kuwait attended and engaged on key issues and business affecting them across the region.

The Australian Business Group was founded in 2009 with the support of the Australian Embassy in Kuwait and its commercial arm, Aus Trade. It aims at promoting trade and other relationships between Australia and Kuwait through providing a networking forum for members to develop their business activities.

Annually the group hosts up to a dozen business or social events, with an emphasis on fostering networking opportunities for business leaders in the community, while embracing Australian culture and lifestyle. The Ambassador’s residence currently plays host to a series of monthly business networking dinners at which leading local businesses deliver engaging presentations on a host of topics from the economic outlook for Kuwait to the latest market trends. Upcoming social events include the Melbourne Cup Garden Party at the end of October, and the culinary celebration of Australian Day at the beginning of the year.

The group is made up of a host of nationalities, the majority of whom are either Australians working for Australian businesses here in the Gulf, or have a personal association with Australia. Currently the group has sixty members including ten corporate members, and thanks to the support of our Australian Ambassador to Kuwait, Warren Hauck, it will continue to grow.
