KUWAIT: Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud AlSabah has emphasized keenness on promoting capabilities of youth working in the state TV. Sheikh Salman was addressing the concluding ceremony of a training workshop the Information Ministry organized for preparation programmers and young directors at the TV sector, October 17-20. The minister stressed their responsibility, namely to exert further efforts to develop their abilities and keep pace with the latest media techniques.

Investment in the human element is the base to achieve progress and prosperity, not only spending on the engineering and technical infrastructure, Sheikh Salman said. The workshop is part of a plan to promote the capabilities at the Ministry of Information, he added. Sheikh Salman said that the ministry, upon directives from His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad AlSabah, offers all forms of support to national media, especially the Kuwait TV. The minister honored participants in the workshop.

Women’s dexterity

Undersecretary of the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs Sheikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah said Kuwaiti women are known for their prowess and creativity in all domains. In a statement to the press on the sidelines of the 8th Arab International Women’s Forum (AIWF) Conference, themed “Young Arab Women Leaders”, Sheikha Al-Zain said that Kuwaiti women have set a precedent for others to follow. She cited recent accolades attained by Kuwaiti women, noting that women comprise 50 percent of the Ministry of Youth’s workforce, all of whom are talented and able to overcome the most insurmountable of obstacles. In words of encouragement to Kuwaiti women, Sheikha Al-Zain said that they are fully capable of reaching greater heights in political and economic realms.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kuwait Energy Sara Akbar told KUNA that the forum is a link that enables Arab businesswomen to share their knowhow with each other, adding that such events aim to familiarize women with any potential impediments facing them. Speaking on gender parity, Akbar said that women need further support to narrow the gender gap, which would provide them with increased opportunities of employment, noting that women deserve to ascend to the upper echelons of society. Through feting businesswomen in Kuwait, the AWIF aims to mold the next generation of female leaders to encourage them to contribute to the development of the nation. — Agencies
