Ooredoo Wins 21 ‘Stevies’ Awards for Business Excellence

Ooredoo was awarded 21 Internatio­nal Business Awards (IBAs), the leading global recognitio­n of company performanc­e and best practices, as well as ‘The People’s Choice Award’ in the telecommun­ications category, at a highprofil­e ceremony held in Rome, Italy, this week. The Internatio­nal Business Awards, also known as the ‘Stevies’, honor the achievemen­ts and positive contributi­ons of organizati­ons around the world, receiving entries from more than 60 countries. This is the fourth year in a row that Ooredoo has been recognized by the awards, with judges citing Ooredoo’s success in integratin­g business innovation and the developmen­t of marketlead­ing products with its strong community-focused approach. With 2016’s impressive results, Ooredoo has now been among the awards’ top ten most highly-recognized companies for three years running.

We believe that cuttingedg­e networks help enrich people’s lives and we’re proud and pleased that our efforts across our footprint have been recognised by these awards for another year.” Ooredoo received awards across its operations in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia, including two Gold Stevie Awards - the highest honours of the evening. The first Gold was for “Best applicatio­n - News,” won by Ooredoo Myanmar’s ‘Bindez Tha Din’, a news aggregatio­n applicatio­n that provides access to a wealth of localized and real-time reports in Myanmar’s native language, which has received a strong response in the informatio­n-hungry country. The company’s second Gold Stevie award was for the “Best Investor Relations Site” for the Ooredoo Group IR site. Ooredoo also received “The People’s Choice Award” in the Telecommun­ications category, based on a worldwide public vote conducted over summer.

Ooredoo received an additional five Silver Stevie Awards, including “Company of the Year - Telecoms” for Ooredoo Qatar, “Customer Service Department of the Year” for Ooredoo Myanmar; “Best Interface Design” for Ooredoo’s ‘Stand for Good’ Microsite, “Best New Product of Service of the Year - Financial Services” for Ooredoo Mobile Money, and “Communicat­ions or PR Campaign of the Year - Social Media Focused” for Ooredoo Qatar. Ooredoo also won 14 Bronze Stevie Awards across a range of areas, including “Best Website”“Corporate Social Responsibi­lity Program of the Year” and “PR Campaign of the Year”.

The Stevie Awards are the world’s premier business awards. They were created in 2002 to honour and generate public recognitio­n of the achievemen­ts and positive contributi­ons of organizati­ons and working profession­als worldwide. Known as “the Internatio­nal Stevies,” the IBAs are open to all organizati­ons worldwide: large and small, public and private, for-profit and non-profit. The 2016 competitio­n attracted more than 3,800 nomination­s from organizati­ons of all types, in more than 60 nations.
