A message to candidates

- By Saad Al-Motesh

The most important statements nowadays are those made by candidates in quest of a parliamentary seat. One can see them criticizing the executives and accusing them of dereliction. Some of them might make statements playing on people’s emotions and many of them will even succeed in doing so.

Some of these statements are only made to address voters’ feelings and win a parliamentary seat, which is a very important position, elevating the status of a winner because he will be one of 50 people with special privileges that are inaccessible to other citizens. All doors will be open for them and they will go through considerable social and financial changes. Still, will anyone buy these tricks? I hope candidates will not do these tricks for the sheep they will serve to voters for dinner at their electoral campaign headquarters. What I mean here is filling their statements with talk about reform and fighting corruption, as many of them claim.

Dear candidates, let me remind you of one thing before candidacy registration closes. In fact, it is a very frightening thing for anybody seeking a position to move up the political ladder. Almighty Allah said that paradise is waiting for those who do not seek higher positions in this world. So, if you are among those Almighty Allah mentioned in his holy book, you must know that you will be accountable for your deeds and we have no control over you.

Dear candidates, you can always deceive us by shouting and wailing about keenness on greater good and this nation’s and people’s interests. We might even help you achieve your goals with our good intentions because we know nothing about what actually goes on in your minds. Nonetheless, will you ever deceive the creator who knows and sees each and everything? I am sure that none of you will and that none of you doubts Allah’s ability to know what is on your minds and in your hearts!

All doors will be open for them and they will go through considerable social and financial changes
