KIB hosts breast cancer awareness talk for its staff

As one of its many initiatives to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and in line with its efforts to promote the health and well-being of all members of society including its own employees, Kuwait International Bank (KIB) recently hosted a special educational talk on breast cancer for its staff.

Presented in partnership with Al-Sidra Association for the Psychological Care of Cancer Patients, the talk addressed both the physical and emotional aspects of the disease, and its effects not only on patients but on family members too. The interactive discussion was designed to provide staff with a greater understanding of the disease, especially the role of mental health and the importance of early detection. It also aimed to equip them with tools to enable them to support those in their lives who might be battling the disease.

The event began with a talk presented by Altaf Al-Essa, Psychotherapist at Al-Sidra Association, who spoke about the importance of psychological health and wellbeing during and after treatment, to ensure a better life for the patient. Following that, Dr Rabee Harb, Family Medicine Specialist at Fawzia Sultan Rehabilitation Institute (FSRI), gave a brief overview of the key medical aspects of the disease, including risk factors, symptoms, screening, early detection and prevention.

“As part of our ongoing strategy to promote the health and well-being of our employees, we launched a number of initiatives throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which focused on education and awareness. Our goal was to enhance awareness about the difference facets of the disease, equipping our staff with all the necessary information and tools regarding breast cancer. In addition to this lecture, we also distributed a series of informative bulletins to ensure sure our staff had all the information they needed to know in order to combat this disease,” said Nigel Holmes, General Manager of the Human Resources Department at KIB.

This latest collaboration came under the umbrella of KIB’s ongoing strategic partnership with Al-Sidra Association, a highlight of the Bank’s robust social responsibility program. KIB offers strategic support to Al Sidra throughout the year, sponsoring the Association’s numerous activities, events and initiatives.
