16-year-olds trialed as adults from Jan 1
Teenagers as young as 16 years of age will be tried as adults in criminal cases starting from January 1, 2017, security sources said, urging legal guardians to take extra caution and make sure that their children stay away from criminal behavior. The National Assembly had last year passed a law to reduce the legal age for criminal accountability for teenagers from 18 to 16. — Al-Rai
