Ooredoo signs Memorandum of Understand­ing with Youth Ministry

Aiming to support youth initiative­s and projects in Kuwait

KUWAIT: Ooredoo, the fastest network in Kuwait in 2016, signed a memorandum of understand­ing with the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs yesterday. The memorandum aims at enhancing cooperatio­n between the two entities to support youth-related projects. The signing ceremony was held at the premises of the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs, and was attended by the Minister of Informatio­n and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman AlHumoud Al-Sabah, and Deputy Minister of State for Youth Affairs Shaikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah, and Ooredoo Kuwait Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani.

Commenting on this event, CEO and General Manager Al Thani said: “This memorandum of understand­ing reiterates our position at Ooredoo Kuwait as supporters of youth, and reflects our belief in the government’s strategy in supporting youth. This also further translates the directions of His Highness the Amir, where he stressed on several occasions on the importance of investing in youth.”

He added: “Our strategy in Ooredoo is based on the values of caring, connecting and challengin­g. Stemming from these values is our CSR strategy, which includes yearround sponsorshi­ps and activities that support youth in different sectors.”

Meanwhile, Sheikh Salman AlHumoud Al-Sabah said: “We are very keen to further cooperate with Ooredoo Kuwait, and we welcome all private sector entities who are ready to support us and cooperate with us. This is a good indication, and we look forward for a fruitful cooperatio­n.”

Ooredoo has won an award by the Ministry of Youth for State Affairs last year for being the only supporter in the private sector for volunteer programs, after the launch of its youth volunteer program. Ooredoo has also sponsored the Youth Initiative­s Award, in cooperatio­n with the Arab Media Forum last week.
