Busy activities on WIF 2016’s agenda
The supreme organizing committee of the World Informatics Forum (WIF) 2016 yesterday announced the forum’s activities list. The forum will be held next month under auspices of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and would cover various scientific and practical lines related to the digital age and creative technologies.
In this regard, head of the organizing committee Dr Hussein Yosri Ameen stressed that the Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Informatics Award Foundation is keen on making the forum an annual event anticipated by people interested in the fields. He added that a group of experts and specialists took part in setting the activities’ program due to be held on November 21 - 23, 2016 under the title of ‘Digital Shifting to Knowledge Economy.’
Further, Ameen explained that the activities would include an ‘Ideas Market’ exhibition, displaying future technologies, applications and digital creations of public and private establishments on both Arab and international levels, including researchers from the Arab world and from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Meanwhile, Ameen said that several workshops would be held durinf the forum at Arraya Ballroom in Courtyard Marriott Hotel, tackling subjects that include smart cities, the latest in the world of robots, using iClouds, creativity in using financial technologies, the best practices of developing mobile phone applications, 3D printers and their uses, comparison between actual and virtual reality techniques in addition to the latest on automation techniques.
The WIF organizing committee is headed by Dr Hussein Yosri Ameen; a journalism and media professor at AUC. It also includes Gulf Oil Company’s chief IT and networks enginee, Ahmed Abdullah Safar, Advanced Technology Group’s CEO engineer Jassem Al-Mutawa, head of the business, research and technology unit at GOC engineer Alya’s Al-Enezi and Sara Al-Doussary; a data analyst at Kuwait National Petroleum Company.
