Cum­ber­batch’s shoes are be­ing auc­tioned

Bene­dict Cum­ber­batch’s shoes are be­ing auc­tioned off in the world’s big­gest celebrity shoe auc­tion. The 40-year-old ac­tor is among the many stars to have do­nated a pair of their shoes to Char­i­tyS­, who are host­ing the sev­enth an­nual Small Steps Celebrity Shoe Auc­tion. The char­ity aims to use the money raised from the auc­tion in or­der to help sup­port chil­dren liv­ing on land­fill sites who quite of­ten will walk bare­footed on the dan­ger­ous ground. Char­i­tyS­tars’ MD Robert Robin­son said: “Our aim is to de­liver im­pact­ing and sus­tain­able fundrais­ing so­lu­tions for the non-profit sec­tors so we are de­lighted to be run­ning this auc­tion for Small Steps and hope to raise lots of money for a fan­tas­tic cause.” Bene­dict has do­nated a pair of Tod’s Loafers from his per­sonal col­lec­tion, and each shoe is signed on the in­side. With 11 days to go un­til the bid­ding Along­side the ‘Doc­tor Strange’ star, the likes of Emma Wat­son, Kate Moss, Cold­play, Rita Ora, Matt Le Blanc and Oprah Win­frey are among just a few of the stars who have signed up to do­nate a pair of shoes to the cause. Founder and CEO of Char­i­tyS­tars Amy Han­son said of the celebrity sup­port: “We are al­ways blown away by the sup­port that celebri­ties show us, and this year once again the re­sponse has been truly phe­nom­e­nal. These celebrity donors are re­ally us­ing their sta­tus to help cre­ate aware­ness for chil­dren in poverty.” At present, the most ex­pen­sive pair of shoes are Emma Wat­son’s au­to­graphed Nike Train­ers. There are cur­rently 77 open auc­tions for celebrity shoes, with the auc­tions clos­ing on Sun­day, Novem­ber 20.
