Traf­fic Depart­ment ac­ti­vates ATV ban

In­te­rior Min­istry Act­ing As­sis­tant Un­dersec­re­tary for Traf­fic Af­fairs Maj Gen Fahd Al-Showai said traf­fic pa­trols started yes­ter­day a cam­paign to mon­i­tor the use of mo­tor­cy­cles and ATVs on main roads and res­i­den­tial and coastal ar­eas. He said rid­ing an ATV will re­sult in its im­pound­ment. He said the traf­fic depart­ment is ex­ert­ing ef­forts to curb the bad be­hav­ior of driv­ing ATVs, adding that there will be sev­eral field teams from the se­cu­rity su­per­vi­sion to mon­i­tor such be­hav­iors to erad­i­cate them. He said mis­use of ATVs re­sults in deaths and se­vere in­juries. Showai urged par­ents to watch their chil­dren to stop traf­fic ac­ci­dents. He said an ATV should be driven within le­gal con­di­tions and tech­ni­cal spec­i­fi­ca­tions. In other news, the traf­fic or­ga­ni­za­tion depart­ment for air­port se­cu­rity im­pounded 26 ve­hi­cles, in ad­di­tion to is­su­ing 1,860 ci­ta­tions.


The re­la­tions and se­cu­rity in­for­ma­tion depart­ment at the in­te­rior min­istry said two ex­pos will be held at the Av­enues and Gate Mall from to­day for three days to give in­for­ma­tion about voter reg­is­tra­tion num­bers at com­mit­tees and their lo­ca­tions for the par­lia­men­tary elec­tions that will be held on Nov 26. The depart­ment urged cit­i­zens and their fam­i­lies who wish to take ad­van­tage of this ser­vice to visit these ex­pos from to­mor­row un­til Satur­day from 10 am un­til 10 pm.
