KUWAIT: Traffic police launched a threeday inspection campaign that resulted in arresting eight people and impounding 66 bikes and ATVs, the Ministry of Interior’s relations and security media department announced yesterday. The department explained that ministerial decision number 245/1983 banned riding ATVs on main roads, highways and in residential and coastal areas. The decision also authorized traffic police to impound the ATVs without any responsibility for any damage caused to them. The decision also said owners can only reclaim the ATVs after paying all fees and fines as well as the cost of impounding them for a maximum period of two months. The decision reminded people that bikes and ATVs can only be used in desert areas, unpaved roads and special tracks.
