UK keen on bol­ster­ing ties with Kuwait - Lord Mayor of Lon­don

LON­DON: The United King­dom is keen on bol­ster­ing ties with the State of Kuwait on all pos­si­ble do­mains, Lord Mayor of Lon­don An­drew Charles Parm­ley said yes­ter­day. In an exclusive in­ter­view, Parm­ley lauded the sig­nif­i­cant po­lit­i­cal and hu­man­i­tar­ian roles played by His High­ness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ah­mad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah within the re­gional and in­ter­na­tional spheres, af­firm­ing that the GCC leader was a wise and lev­el­headed fig­ure who de­served all re­spect and ad­mi­ra­tion.

On his up­com­ing two-day visit to Kuwait, which be­gins to­mor­row, Parm­ley said that the Gulf coun­try pro­vided strong in­cen­tives for for­eign in­vestors to seek busi­ness in the re­gion. The Lord Mayor of Lon­don af­firmed that the goal of the visit was to re­as­sure Kuwait and the GCC coun­tries that the UK would re­main as a strong busi­ness part­ner. Parm­ley’s visit comes on the back­drop of Brexit, an event that sent shock­waves around the globe af­ter the UK ex­pressed clear in­ten­sions to fully sep­a­rate from the EU.

Parlmey re­vealed that more top UK of­fi­cials will visit the re­gion soon, point­ing out the UK Prime Min­is­ter Theresa May will par­take in the GCC sum­mit to be held in Bahrain later next month. Parm­ley said that busi­ness per­son­nel and in­vestors around the globe should not be wor­ried about the af­ter­math of Brexit, not­ing that his coun­try had built solid re­la­tions with many na­tions that were not eas­ily shaken by any given event. —KUNA
