FGCCC connecting bloc’s economies

Chairman of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Ali Mohammed Thunayan Al-Ghanim has stressed the vital role of the Federation of Chambers of the Gulf Cooperatio­n Council (FGCCC) for connecting economic of the member states. Al-Ghanim, who is also FGCCC chairman, said that the federation plays a significan­t role in designing the economic policies on the Gulf, Arab and internatio­nal scenes.

The remarks were made on the sidelines of the FGCCC meeting in Doha, Qatar. The FGCCC’s role is also essential for activating and supporting the resolution­s taken by the GCC Supreme Council for further enhancing pan-GCC economic links and cooperatio­n, he said. On the FGCCC meeting, he said that they had discussed a multitude of common issues, focusing on joint investment­s and means of boosting trade among the member states.

Referring to the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA) recently passed by the US Congress, Al-Ghanim said that Kuwait had adopted discussing it with the GCC economic leadership­s, to conclude a vision and submit it to the FCGCCC secretaria­t. The meeting agreed to issue a statement on JASTA over the coming few days, he noted. Meanwhile, under Kuwait’s presidency the FCGCCC will make further efforts to promote economic and trade cooperatio­n among the GCC member states. Today’s discussion­s also addressed various issues related to the private sector and FCGCC reports, in addition to the federation’s work program for 2017.
