Bur­gan Bank sup­ports Int’l Day of Peo­ple with Dis­abil­i­ties

Bur­gan Bank proudly an­nounces its sec­ond spon­sor­ship of ‘The In­ter­na­tional Day of Peo­ple with Dis­abil­i­ties’, which is be­ing or­ga­nized by the “Ideal Ed­u­ca­tion School” for students with spe­cial needs. This is an an­nual event be­ing held with an aim to pro­vide a frame for con­sid­er­ing how peo­ple with dis­abil­i­ties are in­cluded in the so­ci­ety by promoting the re­moval of all types of bar­ri­ers.

The event in­volved the par­tic­i­pa­tion of students and their par­ents in a se­ries of pro­grams and en­ter­tain­ment activities, while the bank was there to show its sol­i­dar­ity and sup­port for peo­ple with spe­cial needs in Kuwait. The event in­cluded dis­play­ing the spe­cial needs students’ hand­made arts and crafts which they have been work­ing on dur­ing the year. Ad­di­tion­ally, the event will be pre­sent­ing an op­por­tu­nity to peo­ple with dis­abil­i­ties to en­sure that their rights, con­cerns and con­tri­bu­tions are fully taken into con­sid­er­a­tion; this is in ad­di­tion to helping in re­mov­ing bar­ri­ers to cre­ate an in­clu­sive and ac­ces­si­ble so­ci­ety for all.

It is worth men­tion­ing that Bur­gan Bank’s sup­port to this ini­tia­tive falls un­der its re­cently launched full-fledged com­mu­nity pro­gram en­ti­tled ‘EN­GAGE’ - To­gether to be the change. This pro­gram sheds light on im­por­tant as­pects af­fect­ing ev­ery seg­ment of the so­ci­ety by promoting so­cial wel­fare through ed­u­ca­tional, cul­tural, so­cial and health ini­tia­tives. Bur­gan Bank’s ap­proach to ‘EN­GAGE’ be­gins with a vi­tal prin­ci­ple that as a Kuwaiti fi­nan­cial in­sti­tu­tion, its con­duct and poli­cies should be aligned with the needs and in­ter­ests of the Kuwaiti so­ci­ety.
