Microsoft showcases solutions to empower Telecom Sector

In line with its commitment to drive digital transforma­tion across different sectors, Microsoft participat­ed in the sixth annual Zain Technology Conference held from 5th December to 7th December, at Le Royale Hotel in Amman, Jordan. The event, under the theme of “Moving Forward” focused on Zain’s strategy execution as it continues towards its transforma­tion on becoming a digital lifestyle provider.

Microsoft showcased innovative solutions at the conference; Azure, Internet of Things (IoT) and Office 365, to enable and aid Zain’s strategy execution and support its strategic goals.

Steve Dunbar, Microsoft’s Internet of Things (IoT) Commercial lead, delivered a session titled “IoT - From the Edge to the Analytics”, that focused on how Internet of Things is opening a whole new set of strategies, possibilit­ies and opportunit­ies, resulting in a global explosion of new business ideas and leading the way in digital transforma­tion.

“We are very excited to partner with Zain, to help them deliver on their bold vision of Digital Innovation and participat­e in the Zain Technology Conference, which is a unique platform for exchange of knowledge and informatio­n for attendees to envision what technology can actually do for customers and the difference it can make in their lives.” Said Charles Nahas, General Manager, Microsoft Kuwait “Microsoft remains committed to developing solutions for the telecom industry enabling them to empower their employees gain insights, optimize operations and change the nature of business models to achieve more.”

Delegates visiting the Microsoft stand were able to immerse into discussion­s with Microsoft experts on the Azure cloud platform and Office 365, along with Internet of Things, learning more about Microsoft’s Digital Transforma­tion framework. Illustrati­ng the scale of disruption seen today, Microsoft team elaborated on how cloud intelligen­ce can be leveraged to drive business efficiency and cater to industries in different stages of digital transforma­tion. The IoT session discussed how enterprise­s can deploy cloud based solutions to generate valuable data insights, improve customer relationsh­ip management and enhance organizati­onal agility.

Zain Technology Conference 2016 comprised of seven basic stream of topics; Smart Networks, Core Evolution, BSS and OSS Digital Future, IT Evolution, Quality of Experience, Service Innovation and Energy Efficiency and Site Optimizati­on. Shared discussion­s were held around related technology areas amongst business profession­als over the course of three days, also comprising of advanced level interactio­ns on Network Evolution to 5G and Use Cases, Cloud and Virtualiza­tion opportunit­ies, Telecom Data Analytics, IoT use cases, VolTE and Video services.

A big number of attendees came to the conference, with more than 60 representa­tives from technology partners. Zain establishe­d its utilizatio­n of latest technologi­es for the developmen­t of solutions in areas of Machine to Machine communicat­ions, Enterprise Offerings and Smart City connectivi­ty, enhancing its existing business infrastruc­ture and customer services.
