MPs who have served in Kuwaiti cab­i­nets

KUWAIT: The State of Kuwait, since form­ing the Na­tional As­sem­bly (Par­lia­ment) in 1963, has wit­nessed in­clu­sion of at least a sin­gle mem­ber of the as­sem­bly in gov­ern­ments. Fol­low­ing is a re­port list­ing names of law­mak­ers who dou­bled as cab­i­net mem­bers:

• Cab­i­net of Jan­uary 1963: MP Ab­dul­lah Me­shari Ab­dul­lah, min­is­ter of so­cial af­fairs and la­bor. Ac­cord­ing to a cab­i­net reshuf­fle dat­ing March 13th, 1964, MP Khaled Al-Fe­heid took the elec­tric­ity and water port­fo­lio, his fel­low leg­is­la­tor Yousef Al-Ri­faee served as min­is­ter of telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions.

• Cab­i­net of De­cem­ber 1964: MP Hu­moud Al-Nisef, min­is­ter of health, Khaled Al-Fe­heid, min­is­ter of ed­u­ca­tion, Ab­dul­lah Al-Roudan, min­is­ter of so­cial af­fairs and la­bor and Yousef AlRi­faee, min­is­ter of telecom­mu­ni­ca­tion.

• Cab­i­net of Jan­uary 1965: MP Khaled Al-Fe­heid, min­is­ter of ed­u­ca­tion, Ab­dul­lah Al-Roudan, min­is­ter of awqaf and Yousef Al-Ri­faee, min­is­ter of state for cab­i­net af­fairs.

• Cab­i­net of Fe­bru­ary 1967: MP Ab­du­laziz Al-Saraawi, min­is­ter of health and Yousef Al-Ri­faee, min­is­ter of state for cab­i­net af­fairs.

• Cab­i­net of April 1967: MP Ab­du­laziz Al-Saraawi, min­is­ter of telecom­mu­ni­ca­tion.

• Cab­i­net of Fe­bru­ary 1971: MP Ha­mad Al-Ay­yar, min­is­ter of so­cial af­fairs and la­bor and Rashed AlFarhan, min­is­ter of awqaf and Is­lamic af­fairs.

• Cab­i­net of Fe­bru­ary 1975: MP Ab­dul­rah­man Al-Awadhi, min­is­ter of pub­lic health and Ab­dul­mu­talleb AlKathmi, min­is­ter of oil.

• Cab­i­net of March 1981: MP Essa Al-Mazidi, min­is­ter of com­mu­ni­ca­tions.

• Cab­i­net of March 1985: MP Jassem Al-Kharafi, min­is­ter of fi­nancce and econ­omy.

• Cab­i­net of Oc­to­ber 1992: Wit­nessed elec­tion of six mem­bers of the Na­tional As­sem­bly to serve in the gov­ern­ment-the first time. Ah­mad AlRabee, min­is­ter of ed­u­ca­tion, Jassem Al-Aoun, min­is­ter of so­cial af­fairs and la­bor, Ju­maan Al-Azmi, min­is­ter of awqaf and Is­lamic af­fairs, Ab­dul­lah AlHa­jeri, min­is­ter of com­merce and in­dus­try, Ali Al-Baghli, min­is­ter of oil and Me­shari Al-En­jeri, min­is­ter of jus­tice.

• Cab­i­net of Oc­to­ber 1992: Five min­is­ters re­signed, in­clud­ing the MPs Al-Azmi, Al-Ha­jeri and Al-Baghli.

• Cab­i­net of Oc­to­ber 1996: MP Ah­mad Al-Klaib, min­is­ter of so­cial af­fairs and la­bor, Jassem Al-Mudaf, min­is­ter of com­merce and in­dus­try, Ab­dul­lah Al-Ha­jeri, min­is­ter of pub­lic works and Mo­ham­mad Dai­ful­lah Sharar, min­is­ter of awqaf and Is­lamic af­fairs.

• Cab­i­net of March 1998: MP Ah­mad Al-Klaib, min­is­ter of jus­tice, Hu­moud Al-Rgubaa, min­is­ter of elec­tric­ity and water and Mo­ham­mad Dai­ful­lah Sharar, min­is­ter of state for Na­tional As­sem­bly af­fairs.

• Cab­i­net of July 1999: MP Eid AlRashidi, min­is­ter of pub­lic works.

• Cab­i­net of July 2003: MP Ah­mad Al-Ab­dul­lah, min­is­ter of jus­tice.

• Cab­i­net of Fe­bru­ary 2006: MP Yousef Al-Zalza­lah, min­is­ter of com­merce and in­dus­try.

• Cab­i­net of July 2006: MP Falah AlHa­jeri, min­is­ter of com­merce and in­dus­try.

• Cab­i­net of March 2007: Al-Ha­jeri re­tained his post.

• Cab­i­net of May 2008: MP Hus­sein Al-Hraiti, min­is­ter of jus­tice and Is­lamic af­fairs.

• Cab­i­net of Jan­uary 2009: Al-Hraiti re­tained his post.

• Cab­i­net of May 2009: MP Roudan Al-Roudan, min­is­ter of state for cab­i­net af­fairs.

• Cab­i­net of May 2011: MP Ali AlRashed, min­is­ter of state for cab­i­net af­fairs.

• Cab­i­net of Fe­bru­ary 2012: Mp Shuaib Al-Mwaizri, min­is­ter of jus­tice and Is­lamic af­fairs.

• Cab­i­net of De­cem­ber 2012: MP Ayed Al-Rashidi, min­is­ter of so­cial af­fairs and la­bor.

• Cab­i­net of July 2013: MP Essa AlKan­dari, min­is­ter of com­mu­ni­ca­tion. In a re­huf­fule in Jan­uary 2014, Kan­dari was named min­is­ter of state for mu­nic­i­pal af­fairs, min­is­ter of oil and min­is­ter of state for Na­tional As­sem­bly af­fairs. In an­other reshuf­fle in Oc­to­ber 2014, MP Yaqoub Al-Sane was named min­is­ter of jus­tice and Is­lamic af­fairs.
