Four Kuwaitis ar­rested in Iran

KUWAIT: The Kuwaiti Min­istry of For­eign Af­fairs said Fri­day it is closely mon­i­tor­ing the de­ten­tion of four Kuwaiti ci­ti­zens at Iran’s Ahavaz area, and co­or­di­nat­ing with rel­e­vant au­thor­i­ties in or­der to en­sure their re­lease and safe re­turn to their coun­try.

As­sis­tant For­eign Min­is­ter for Con­sular Af­fairs Sami AlHa­mad said yesterday in a press re­lease that upon in­struc­tions from First Deputy Premier and For­eign Min­is­ter Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Ha­mad Al-Sabah, the Ira­nian Am­bas­sador to Kuwait was sum­moned to de­liver him a memo de­mand­ing ac­cess to the de­tained Kuwaiti ci­ti­zens and their safe re­lease.

He added that the Kuwaiti Em­bassy in Tehran had con­tacted Ira­nian au­thor­i­ties to fol­low up on the ar­rest of the four Kuwaiti ci­ti­zens and ask for al­low­ing the Kuwaiti em­bassy to visit them. He noted that the min­istry would con­tinue ef­forts through its em­bassy in Tehran and the Ira­nian em­bassy in Kuwait in or­der to en­sure their re­lease and safe re­turn.
