Ini­tia­tive to name Sharm Al-Sheikh Square af­ter Amir

'Kuwait of Peace, Egypt of Love' fes­ti­val an­nounced

A press con­fer­ence was held in Kuwait recently to an­nounce the 'Kuwait of Peace, Egypt of Love' fes­ti­val, due to be held at Sharm Al-Sheikh, Egypt, on De­cem­ber 29-30 un­der aus­pices of Egyp­tian Prime Min­is­ter Sherif Is­mail. The fes­ti­val is first ini­tia­tive or­ga­nized by the Kuwaiti Fu­ture Group and comes as a man­i­fes­ta­tion of His High­ness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ah­mad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's in­struc­tions to sup­port Egypt.

Speak­ing dur­ing the press con­fer­ence held at Kuwait's em­bassy in Cairo, Kuwait's Am­bas­sador to Egypt Mo­hammed Saleh Al-Thuwayyekh started by ex­press­ing Kuwait's con­do­lences to Egypt for the vic­tims killed in Ab­basiya Cathe­dral ex­plo­sion, de­scrib­ing the at­tack as 'a mean act of ter­ror­ism'. He also stressed that Kuwait-Egypt re­la­tions were his­toric and a role model for other Arabs coun­tries.

In ad­di­tion, Thuwayyekh ex­plained that the fes­ti­val will be held in col­lab­o­ra­tion with a num­ber of of­fi­cial and non-of­fi­cial Egyp­tian and Kuwaiti bod­ies. He also stressed that choos­ing Sharm Al-Sheikh as a venue for the fes­ti­val comes be­cause of its fas­ci­nat­ing scenery and na­ture, in ad­di­tion to the safety and se­cu­rity it en­joys and of­fers to visi­tors.

Sup­port­ing Egypt

Mean­while, the head of the Fu­ture Group and head of the fes­ti­val, Abrar Al-Ma­soud said that the fes­ti­val comes in im­ple­men­ta­tion of His High­ness the Amir's in­struc­tions to sup­port Egypt in var­i­ous fields, namely the eco­nomic and touris­tic sec­tors. She started her words by quot­ing His High­ness the Amir's words say­ing: "Egypt is so dear to us and we will never let it down."

Ma­soud added that the fes­ti­val is the first but not only ini­tia­tive to ex­press such love and joint his­tory and des­tiny be­tween Kuwait and Egypt. She added that the fes­ti­val would mark launch­ing sev­eral Kuwaiti small projects to help solve the prob­lem of un­em­ploy­ment in Egypt. "The fes­ti­val will also wit­ness the dis­play of Kuwaiti and Egyp­tian tra­di­tional ar­ti­facts," she added, not­ing that the fes­ti­val would be spon­sored by Al-Sabah Roy­alty Com­pany, the Arab Real Es­tate In­vest­ment Com­pany, Kuwait Fund for Arab De­vel­op­ment, Al-Kharafi Com­pany, the Kuwaiti-Egyp­tian real Es­tate Com­pany, Al-An­baa, Al-Ahram, Al-Na­har, Rosealy­ousif, Egypt 11 news web­site and the Nile Spe­cial­ized TV Chan­nels rep­re­sented by Nile Life.

Charm and se­cu­rity

Also speak­ing on the oc­ca­sion, South Si­nai Gover­nor Ma­jor Gen­eral Khaled Foudah stressed the deep-rooted re­la­tions be­tween both coun­tries, and in­vited the Kuwaiti peo­ple to at­tend the fes­ti­val and visit Sharm Al-Sheikh to en­joy its charm and se­cu­rity.

Foudah an­nounced that two Kuwaiti flights would ar­rive on De­cem­ber 28, car­ry­ing a large num­ber of Kuwaiti tourists. He also hailed the ini­tia­tive sug­gested by Ma­soud to name one of Sharm Al-Sheikh's squares af­ter His High­ness the Amir.

Also speak­ing on the oc­ca­sion, the Egyp­tian Min­is­ter of Tourism Amr Al-Ez­abi stressed that cor­dial re­la­tions be­tween both coun­tries go way back to the 1973 War. He also noted that around 140,000 Kuwaiti tourists had vis­ited Egypt last year, adding that the num­bers are still grow­ing.
