Amir to pa­tron­ize Is­lamic Cap­i­tal fes­tiv­i­ties’ con­clu­sion

KUWAIT: His High­ness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ah­mad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah will pa­tron­ize to­day a cer­e­mony mark­ing the con­clu­sion of the na­tional fes­tiv­i­ties for des­ig­nat­ing Kuwait as the Cap­i­tal of Is­lamic Cul­ture (2016), the Min­is­ter of In­for­ma­tion an­nounced on Wednesday. Sheikh Sal­man Al-Hu­moud, also Chair­man of the Na­tional Coun­cil for Cul­ture, Arts and Let­ters (NCCAL), said in a state­ment that the event, to be hosted by Sheikh Jaber Al-Ah­mad Cul­tural Cen­ter, will be at­tended by a large num­ber of renowned cul­tural and in­tel­lec­tual fig­ures from Arab and for­eign coun­tries, not­ing their pres­ence will de­pict sup­port for Kuwait’s “cul­tural mes­sage.”

To­day’s fes­ti­val will con­clude with the State of Kuwait Cul­tural Dec­la­ra­tion. More­over, the Is­lamic Or­ga­ni­za­tion for Ed­u­ca­tional, Sci­en­tific and Cul­tural Or­ga­ni­za­tion (ISESCO) will honor Gen­eral Su­per­vi­sor of Dar Al-Athar Al-Is­lamiyyah Sheikha Hussa Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, in ap­pre­ci­a­tion for her in­ter­na­tional ef­forts in sup­port of Is­lamic arts and cul­ture.

Fur­ther­more, the fes­ti­val pro­gram in­cludes ‘a cul­tural op­eretta,’ con­tents of which shed light on the Kuwaiti lead­ers’ con­cern for cul­ture. The ac­tiv­ity will also mark the des­ig­na­tion of Kuwait as the Cap­i­tal of Arab Youth Cap­i­tal (2017).
