Amir to patronize Islamic Capital festivities’ conclusion
KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah will patronize today a ceremony marking the conclusion of the national festivities for designating Kuwait as the Capital of Islamic Culture (2016), the Minister of Information announced on Wednesday. Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud, also Chairman of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL), said in a statement that the event, to be hosted by Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center, will be attended by a large number of renowned cultural and intellectual figures from Arab and foreign countries, noting their presence will depict support for Kuwait’s “cultural message.”
Today’s festival will conclude with the State of Kuwait Cultural Declaration. Moreover, the Islamic Organization for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) will honor General Supervisor of Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah Sheikha Hussa Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, in appreciation for her international efforts in support of Islamic arts and culture.
Furthermore, the festival program includes ‘a cultural operetta,’ contents of which shed light on the Kuwaiti leaders’ concern for culture. The activity will also mark the designation of Kuwait as the Capital of Arab Youth Capital (2017).
