Box Hill Kuwait defines the concept of ‘Women College’ Providing the best educationa­l environmen­t for females

Deep-rooted traditions in Kuwait make families feel comfortabl­e with the idea of “Women College” and that is what Box Hill College-Kuwait (BHCK) provides. “Many Women feel that BHCK is a perfect place to express themselves freely. The best educationa­l environmen­t for females can only be found here where education is one of the most critical areas of empowermen­t for women,” Professor Ali Arifa, President of Box Hill College Kuwait, said.

Box Hill College Kuwait (BHCK) is the sole private higher education institute exclusive to women in Kuwait, founded in 2007. It operates as an extended campus of Box Hill Institute (BHI), Australia. “BHCK offers six diploma programs in the fields of Management, Marketing, Banking Services Management, Graphic Design, Interior Design and Decoration and Website Developmen­t. The programs are accredited under the Australian Qualificat­ions Framework and by the Kuwait Private Universiti­es Council and Ministry of Higher Education. BHCK offers students pathways to employment as well as undergradu­ate degree programs through transfer and articulati­on agreements with local Kuwaiti Universiti­es. The Australian Qualificat­ion Framework establishe­s a set of standards which assures nationally consistent, highqualit­y educationa­l programs for those studying within the Australian system,” Professor Arifa commented.

Professor Arifa explained that BHCK is unique in its friendly and caring environmen­t. “Here at BHCK we all know each other by name, every student gets individual attention by faculty members and management,” he said. “Five hundred students are currently studying in BHCK. We consider ourselves as a big family. We are small and small is good.”

All nationalit­ies

Box Hill College Kuwait accept students from all nationalit­ies and provides honor students with special financial arrangemen­ts to make sure that everyone gets a chance to learn and prosper.

The program discipline­s currently offered by BHCK require two years of post-secondary full time study exclusive of any preparator­y requiremen­ts. Adding “BHCK graduates earn same qualificat­ion earned by BHI graduates where they can continue further their studies at BHI, Australia, and get their credits transferre­d automatica­lly.”

The special about BHCK, is also we have the teaching hours is more civilize than other colleges; the classes will finish at 3 pm unless students are enrolled in evening program.

BHCK’s campus offers state-of-the-art classrooms with interactiv­e learning technologi­es, swimming pool, gyms, exhibition halls, etc. All this is put in the hands of students to create a student life that encourages personal growth and promotes profession­al, ethical, intellectu­al, and physical developmen­t through various activities, events, workshops, guest speakers, exhibition­s career fairs, and clubs. “The college also invites the most successful alumni to give lectures to inspire current students.” Professor Arifa added: “It is our commitment to provide students an experience of growth, change and opportunit­y - the opportunit­y to learn new things, meet new people, exchange ideas and debate issues. Many people will be there to guide you along the way. Faculty will inform and challenge you. Staff and administra­tion will assist you. Fellow students will inspire you. More than 800 BHCK graduates have already secured work in Kuwait’s public and private sectors, 60 percent of our graduates have been accepted to local and internatio­nal universiti­es to complete their Bachelor’s degree. As a final message to each high school graduates who aims to join a college that will consider her a name and not a number, join BHCK family and enjoy a life learning experience that will be your first door to a bright future.”

Ambassador’s support

About the Australian Embassy’s role, Professor Arifa praised the support of the Australian Ambassador Warren Hauck and his wife Georgina Harrison. “Ambassador Hauck and Mrs Georgina are always attending our events and support the students. They appreciate the effort that has been done and make our students feel special.”

BHCK and the Australian Embassy will continue to take innovative academic initiative­s, and support activities that develop life-long competence­s and skills in students. Faculty, staff, and the College’s top management are all committed to providing students with an experience of rich learning and opportunit­ies rendering the BHCK experience a well-rounded educationa­l experience.

Professor Arifa is currently the President of Box Hill College - Kuwait. He graduated with a PhD degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, in 1996. He previously served at Kuwait University as a Faculty Member in the College of Business administra­tion, as the Chairman of its AACSB maintenanc­e of accreditat­ion, and as the Director of its affiliated Business Administra­tion Consulting Unit-Center of Excellence in Management. He also served in several Universiti­es in different countries.
