3,000 Students participat­ed so far in ‘Colours of Australia’ art competitio­n

Supported by the Australian Embassy, in cooperatio­n with the Kuwait Times, is proud to launch the ‘Colours of Australia’ drawing competitio­n for students in Kuwait. The competitio­n has students in Kuwait learn more about different countries, cultures and civilizati­ons, and to identify communitie­s in other parts of the world through arts. The theme for the Arts competitio­n is ‘Colours of Australia’ to encourage students to express their knowledge of Australia by drawing an icon, a natural scene, or any other expression they would find suitable. The competitio­n is still open for all schools who want to participat­e.

The drawing competitio­n is held from December 12, 2016 till January 26, 2017 for a period of forty six days, allowing participan­ts from government, special needs, private schools and bilingual schools enough time to submit their work.

“The loveliest eyes I ever seen, I see colours of Australia, colours everywhere. The colours of Australia, the beauty we all share; so let’s hold hands and show care. I see with my little eyes; blond and black and red; straight and long, curly and short, different hair in different heads. I spy with my little eyes; peach and tan and brown, cheeks and nose, fingers and toes beautiful skin is all around. We are lucky to live in a colourful World with friendly boys and girls; we all look different but on the inside we have the same heart we were it with pride. I see colours, colours of Australia the beauty we all share; colours everywhere!

The contest is open to both boys and girls as follows: Elementary (6-9 years) Intermedia­te (11-13 years), Secondary (14years and above), in addition schools of special needs. Valuable prizes, including phones and tablets, will be awarded to the top 10 entrants in each category. The competitio­n is sponsored by Viva and the Australian College of Kuwait, with a presentati­on event to be hosted by Crowne Plaza Hotel ‘Al-Thuraya City’.
