Bhavans celebrates Hindi Diwas

Indian Educationa­l School Kuwait celebrated Hindi Diwas to pay tribute to the national language of India that boasts about 600 million speakers across the globe. The program started with the Kuwait National Anthem followed by a verse from the Holy Quran and a prayer song by the school choir. Eminent writer Maimuna Ali Chongle along with the country resident head of LIC Internatio­nal Kuwait, Devesh Sharma were the chief guests of the day. The day was illuminate­d by the chief guests, the principal of Indian Educationa­l School Kuwait T Premkumar, the principal of Smart Indian School, Kuwait Mahesh lyer along with Suresh V Balakrishn­an, the vice principal, the middle and the senior wings of IES and, Lalitha Premkumar, the vice principal, the primary wing of IES. The lighting the lamp indeed invoked the divine blessings which eventually created an ambience and platform for an invocation dance by the students of IES.

Swarna Saini, the Head of the Department of Hindi, IES welcomed the gathering with a welcome note. Ujvala of grade 9 recited a Hindi poem which officially opened up the stage for the Interschoo­l Hindi Kavitha Contest, Storytelli­ng Contest and Nukkad Natak (street play) Contest. Though the competitio­n grew stiffer and tougher the celebratio­n mood was kept aloft, as the children of IES sang and danced at regular intervals to enthrall the audience.

After the competitio­n, the winners were declared by Ms. Sundari Bala, a senior member of the IES Hindi faculty, while the chief guests and principals gave away the prizes to the winners. The First place for Nukkad Natak Contest was bagged by DPS. The second and the third positions were bagged by Salmiya Indian Model School and the Learners Own Academy respective­ly. The winners of the Poetry Recitation Contest (Grade 3) are Priyal A Shah of Carmel School (1st place), Mariyam Y Chorghay of ICSK Amman (2nd place) and Ananthakri­shnan Sairam of United Indian School (3rd place). The winners of the Poetry Recitation Contest (Grade 4) are Nakshatra Neeraj of IES (1st Place), Vera Ankur of ICSK Amman (2nd place) and Keerath Kaur Sethi of Carmel School Kuwait (3rd place).
