Ghanem delivers message from Amir to Sisi
CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi yesterday hailed His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s role in cementing the Arabs’ ranks using his wisdom and eminent status among Arab leaders. Presidential spokesman Ambassador Alaa Yousef said in a statement that President Al-Sisi expressed his admiration for His Highness the Amir’s key role in this respect during his reception of the visiting Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanem.
President Sisi, during the meeting, asked the Speaker to relay his greetings to His Highness the Amir and congratulations on his reign’s 11th anniversary. “The appreciated stances by His Highness the Amir and the State of Kuwait would not be forgotten by the Egyptian people and the KuwaitiEgyptian solidarity will remain an example to follow at the level of the relations among the Arab brothers,” President AlSisi said, noting the two countries’ keenness on elevating the distinctive and brotherly relations to higher levels for sake of prosperity and progress of the two countries’ peoples in various domains.
The president congratulated-Ghanem on his recent re-election as the chairman of the Kuwaiti parliament, hailing the Kuwaiti democratic experience and underlining role of the parliament for enriching parliamentary work and the “political life in Kuwait.” The presidential spokesman added that Ghanem relayed to Sisi salutes of His Highness the Amir noting the brotherly and cordial relations between the two peoples. Ghanem has affirmed that Kuwait is proud of the relations with Cairo and its keenness on solidifying the bonds at the political, economic and social levels, noting that Egypt has backed its Arab brothers in times of crises.
The spokesman added that the two sides discussed regional and international issues, where Sisi affirmed that the present period of time warrants greater solidarity among the Arab states to face the soaring challenges. Moreover, the president emphasized necessity to settle regional problems and strife for the sake of restoring security and stability and safeguarding the Arab states’ institutions.
Ghanem had conveyed a verbal message from His Highness the Amir to Sisi, dealing with bilateral relations and regional issues. Speaking as he emerged from the meeting with the Egyptian president at Al-Ittihadiah Palace in Cairo, Ghanem said the conveyed message dealt with bilateral relations and latest developments in the Middle East. He added that Sisi requested that he convey to His Highness his sincere greetings and wishes for life-long wellness.
Speaker Ghanem added that he held talks with the president on pending issues of common concern, noting that the president expressed great admiration for the role played by Kuwait under His Highness the Amir’s leadership in the region. Ghanem said he affirmed during the meeting Kuwait’s admiration for Egypt’s pivotal role in the Middle East and necessity that this role be expanded. “We have also asserted our full solidarity with Egypt in face of terrorist acts and bids targeting Egypt’s security and stability,” he said. Meanwhile, Sisi noted Cairo’s historic commitment to Kuwait’s security and supporting the country in the face of external threats, as well its keenness on elevating the distinctive ties further. The meeting was attended by the State of Kuwait Ambassador Mohammad Saleh Al-Thuwaikh. —KUNA
