KIB participates in World Cancer Day event at Al-Sidra Association

Kuwait International Bank (KIB) recently sponsored the event held by Al-Sidra Association for the Psychological Care of Cancer Patients in commemoration of World Cancer Day and Gulf Cancer Awareness Week. The Bank’s participation in this event came as part of its strategic partnership with Al-Sidra, a collaboration which has been renewed for a second consecutive year.

The event featured the participation of several notable social figures, including Sheikha Azza Jaber Al-Ali AlSabah, Chairman of Al-Sidra Association, Ms. Vicki Silverman, wife of the United States Ambassador to Kuwait, and Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi, Director of Kuwait Cancer Control Center (KCCC). A number of cancer survivors also took part in the event, showcasing Al-Sidra’s role in supporting them through their journey to beat the disease.

In her opening statement, Sheikha Azza Al-Sabah, expressed her sincere gratitude to all guests for attending and participating in the event. Following that, Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi lauded Al Sidra’s efforts and positive influence the Association has had on the psychological well-being of cancer patients, and its continuing participation in various activities and initiatives dedicated to raising awareness about the disease.

Meanwhile, Nawaf Najia, Manager of the Corporate Communications Unit at KIB, praised Al-Sidra, under the leadership of Sheikha Azza Al-Sabah, for its ongoing efforts to support cancer patients. He said: “Our sponsorship of Al-Sidra Association is a true reflection of our social responsibility philosophy, which focuses on promoting the development and well-being of our local community across all areas. As part of our healthcare focused initiatives, we sponsor many national public health awareness and education campaigns, and we continue to offer our support to numerous civil society organizations that work to promote a healthier society.”

Najia further added, “As their proud strategic partner, KIB fully supports Al-Sidra’s goal to provide integrated treatment services to both patients and their families. We are also dedicated to supporting AlSidra’s mission to promote the wellbeing of cancer patients, by creating a positive environment that helps them cope with the side effects of the disease and enhances their response to treatment.”

It serves to note that KIB believes that the development and progress of modern societies is closely connected to the health and well-being of its people. The Bank has always been a dedicated advocate of healthcare awareness campaigns, especially those addressing the very important topic of cancer - as KIB considers awareness to be a key factor in the fight against cancer and early detection of the disease.
