Motorist arrested in fatal hit-and-run

Police arrested an Indian man involved in a hitand-run accident that resulted in the death of an Egyptian pedestrian in Farwaniya. Detectives were able to identify and arrest the suspect within an hour after he fled the scene. The victim’s body was recovered by the forensics department after paramedics pronounced him dead.

Fight

Passersby broke up a women’s fight in which purses and shoes were used in the parking lot of a Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorat­e cafe. An argument began while the women smoked shisha before it escalated into a fistfight. One of the women left for her car, accompanie­d by two others who attempted to calm her down. The woman with whom she argued followed, starting a fight that lasted until it was broken up and police were called. The women left before police arrived to the scene.

Missing boy found

An Egyptian boy named Mohammad was found three days after his disappeara­nce. The boy spent his time in a mosque, not wanting to face his family after his school grades dropped. His father expressed regret over the way he admonished him. The boy was found and returned by Farwaniya detectives.

Suicide

An Indian banker died in an apparent suicide after he threw himself to death from the fourth floor a Farwaniya building where he lived. The banker spent several days screaming hysterical­ly before committing suicide, according to his neighbors. A security source said detectives inspected the man’s apartment and did not find any evidence of foul play. A suicide case was filed and further investigat­ions are in progress. —
