Arab smoke

- By Salah Al-Sayer

On the United States’ decision to ban citizens from a number of Muslim states from entering the US, I would like to highlight the fuss that Arab media and social media networks have created. We saw how Arabs insist on portraying the decision as a racist and anti-Muslims one, though the US has officially limited the decision to states stricken by civil wars and chaos, or those nurturing and promoting terrorism such as Iran (as per the US); which is a lawful

right for any state and a mandatory duty of its decision makers.

A few minutes before the decision, no one across the world described Syria or Yemen as Muslim states. However, as soon as the decision was made, Arab media started hysterically repeating that ‘Trump has banned entry of people from seven Muslim States,’ which is a confusion as a result of the lazy Arab mindsets that are not used to verifying news; rather have been known to ‘cut’, ‘paste’ and steal news from western media, namely the American one, which did so to embarrass president Donald Trump who is already in fierce conflict with the media in his country.

The hate that some US media establishments have for Trump goes way back before he was elected as president. They are both known enemies to each other. During the elections, those establishments tried blocking the roads leading to the White House and did this in the most scandalizing manner that greatly harmed their media credibility. However, the man won the elections despite the misleading media. Therefore, we find so many of those establishments trying to throw more wood in the fire he lit by a decision to regulate entry to the US. The funny thing is that the fire is in America while its smoke is blinding us here in the sad Arab World.
