St Stephens Indian Orthodox Church celebrates Harvest festival 2017

The Harvest festival of St Stephens Indian Orthodox Church was held on 3rd February at Integrated Indian School, Abbassiya. The Public meeting was graced by His Grace Dr Yuhanon Mar Milithios, Metropolitan of Thrissur Diocese as chief guest. In his inaugural speech, he said that Harvest festival plays an important role in unifying people and bringing them together, especially in an era where, God and faith are privatized by religious monopolies. He also added that a society can be happy and content only if there is sharing and unity among the people along with God’s blessings. The meeting was presided by the Vicar, Rev Fr Sanju John and the key note address was delivered by Thomas Chandy, MLA of Kuttan and constituency. Garshom International Award winner, Shri Manoj Mavelikkara was honored in the function.

Felicitation was done by KP Koshy, Administrator of NECK, Rev Fr Jacob Thomas- Associate Vicar of St Gregorios Maha Edavaka, Rev Georgy Abraham, Orthodox Sabha Managing Committee members Shaji Abraham and Sabu T George, Parish Trustee VY Thomas, Secretary Jinu Thomas, Harvest festival general convener James George and Mathews Ommen. To commemorate the occasion, a Souvenir was released by His Grace Dr Yuhanon Mar Milithios.

The event started at 9:30 am with a variety of programs showcasing the spiritual, cultural and traditional values of Kerala, by yesterday the school students and members of other spiritual organizations. Food stalls serving home-made delicacies as well as fast food, Kid’s corner, game stalls and various other entertainments were a part of the fest. The afternoon session was filled with ‘Symphony 2017’, a music concert led by popular play back singer Unni Menon who was supported by famous singer/violinist Roopa Revathy. Key board player Vineesh Calicut and the talented singer of Kuwait Binoy KJ were also a part of the show. The full day program was well organized and was enjoyed by thousands from all walks of life.
