Zain, the leading telecommunications company in Kuwait, welcomed the crew members of ‘Kayak 4 Kuwait’ awareness expedition, which lasted for 90 days and aimed at raising positive awareness about the importance of preserving marine life in the Arabian Gulf. The expedition came under the support of the Environment Public Authority (EPA).

Zain took part in welcoming crew members Bashar Al-Hunaidi and Mansoor AlSafran during the reception ceremony that was held in Kuwait International Airport’s Honoring Hall with the attendance of many supporters and sponsors.

Zain’s sponsorship of this expedition came in line with the company’s Corporate Sustainability strategy towards the environmental sector. Zain is keen on raising awareness about the importance of preserving the environment, especially the preservation of marine life and natural resources within the Arabian Gulf area.

Kuwaiti travelers Hunaidi and Safran kayaked from Kuwait across the GCC countries and reached Oman throughout 90 days, crossing over 2000 kilometers. Kayaking is considered an ideal green sport for such an initiative that aims at raising awareness of the importance of preserving the marine environment within the GCC countries.

As part of its Corporate Sustainability strategy, Zain also presented the Kuwait Diving Team with a fully equipped boat which the team used to achieve 800 marine preservation operations in Kuwait throughout the past years. The company also partnered with the Environment Public Authority (EPA) to distribute awareness messages about the new environmental laws aimed at preserving a green and clean environment in the country.

It is worth noting that Zain has undertaken numerous efforts to preserve the environment, including the introduction of reusable, biodegradable bags for customers to take home in order to reduce reliance on plastic bags. The company also extended its utmost environmental concern towards the technological aspect by reducing the use of unwanted printed paper and replacing it by electronic usage.
