ACK internship program continues to grow

-

The School of Engineering at the Australian College of Kuwait (ACK) has completed the second round of its Winter Internship Program consisting of 55 students and 13 hosting companies. ACK introduced a new internship model in 2016 and has seen the volume of students double due to the enriching experiences internships have to offer.

The internship program worked very closely with some of Kuwait’s top institutions, such as the Kuwait Oil Company, Kuwait National Petroleum Company, Schlumberger, Kuwait Airways, The Ministry of Electricity and Water, Gulf Consult, Al-Argan International Real Estate Company, Al-Ahlia Contracting Group, AlBahar Company, Al-Sanea Chemical Products, Kuwait Aviation Fuelling Company, Cargo Transport System and Pencil Design.

In this collaborative effort between ACK and industry, a well formulated internship training plan is developed to enable students to grasp how businesses operate and the role their profession plays relative to the workplace.

Commenting on this achievement Joumana Tasse, Internship Coordinator at ACK, stated: “Students are rotated between departments giving them exposure to the entire operation. They learn the interconnectedness of a business and the important role teamwork plays to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. They have been given tasks that require them to problem solve and apply their learning in a real workplace setting.”

From his end Abdulrahman Al-Obaid, Acting Superintendent from Kuwait Airways stated: “The level of technical knowledge ACK students obtain is impressive. Repeatedly, their questions have demonstrated their academic training. While in workshops, they listen attentively and ask questions that point to their curiosity with the operations of Kuwait Airways. They demonstrate professionalism by being punctual and are committed to learning. It’s clear that ACK students care about their future careers.” The School of Engineering at ACK is committed to growing its internship program to ensure its students develop the skills and knowledge necessary for success in their future careers.
