Police officer forged investigation’s report
KUWAIT: The criminal court sentenced a police officer and a citizen to five years in jail, and relieved the officer from his duties. The two were convicted of forging a drug case investigation’s report. The officer, who was commissioned to carry out the investigations and write a report on it, entered the house of the suspects in the case without permission, taking advantage of his job, and arrested two people contrary to what the law stipulates. He also helped the second defendant in the case file a complaint; in which the latter gave false information to implicate the detainees.
Fake doctor arrested
Criminal detectives arrested an Asian man in Khaitan who practiced medicine for five years without license. The suspect gave diagnoses and prescriptions to patients, according to his statements made during questioning. Furthermore, the man admitted that he carried out several abortions for expatriate women who got pregnant out of wedlock. The suspect was placed under surveillance after detectives received information about his illegal activities. They noticed after monitoring his ‘clinic’ for a week that an average of 10 patients would visit him a day. Based on these findings, a warrant was obtained and the place was raided where three expats were found, along with banned medicine including pills used for abortion. The suspect said most of his customers are residency violators and that he uses certain medicines to facilitated abortions for KD 50 an operation, which was refundable if there were no results.
Theft
An Egyptian man accused his Sri Lankan domestic helper of stealing his wife’s Spanish-made jewelry. He said the stolen material includes a diamond stone, as well as a golden ring and earrings, adding that the maid had disappeared. Detectives are working on the case.
Auto theft gangs arrested
Criminal detectives put an end to the activities of members of a vehicle theft gang, whose members confessed that they stole eight buses and many cars of various models. They smuggled the stolen vehicles to Iraq and sold them there. The gang used to hide the cars with Styrofoam, then take it to Iraq in large containers. Detectives found invoices, indicating that they bought a large quantity of Styrofoam needed to hide the cars. The security source said the gang was discovered after an Egyptian man complained that a bus belonging to his company was stolen. The source said investigations were intensified resulting in finding the stolen bus in Sulaibiya. The vehicle was loaded on a trailer’s bed after it was covered with Styrofoam, and was on its way to Iraq. Detectives obtained a warrant against one of the suspects, a Syrian man identified by his initials, (S.A.A) and raided his house, where invoices for the Styrofoam purchased were found. The first suspect confessed to being involved along with another Syrian man (A.A.A) and a third person (S.H.N) who had left Kuwait few days before.— Translated from the Arabic press
