Speaker ends Bahrain trip

KUWAIT/MANAMA: Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanem and his accompanyi­ng delegation have returned home yesterday from Bahrain where he was on a three-day official visit. The speaker was received at the airport by Deputy Parliament Speaker Isa Al-Kanderi and Minister of Justice and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Faleh Al-Azeb.

During his stay in Manama, the speaker met with Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Prime Minister Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. He also held talks with Bahrain’s top lawmakers, and Kuwaiti students in Manama.

Historic and deep-seated relations are what both Bahrain and Kuwait share and enjoy, the Bahraini King said on Monday. This came during King Hamad’s reception of Ghanem and his accompanyi­ng delegation, where the latter was tasked with conveying greetings to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Commending the visit, King Hamad hoped its outcomes would have a positive impact on the level of parliament­ary cooperatio­n and democracy in both countries.

Meanwhile, Ghanem conveyed greetings of His Highness the Amir to the King and the Bahraini people, pointing out that rulers of Kuwait and Bahrain are “one family.” The reception was attended by Kuwaiti MPs Faisal Al-Kanderi, Thamer Al-Suwait Al-Dhifeeri, Dr Humoud Al-Khudair, Osama Al-Shahin, Majed Al-Mutairi, Nasser Al-Dossari, Abdulwahab AlBabtain, Alhumaidi Alsubaiee, National Assembly General Secretary Allam Al-Kandari, in addition to Ambassador to Bahrain Sheikh Azzam Al-Sabah.
