Kuwait, Turkey sign MoU to aid the needy in war-torn nations

Kuwait’s Internatio­nal Islamic Charity Organizati­on (IICO) signed a memorandum of understand­ing (MoU) yesterday with Turkey’s Red Crescent on building joint strategic partnershi­p to aid the poor and needy in war-torn countries.

Meanwhile, IICO’s President Dr Abdullah Al-Maatouq praised the enthusiast­ic and cooperativ­e spirit shown by the Turkish Red Crescent while signing the MoU, pointing out several common grounds between the Kuwaiti and Turkish institutio­ns in the humanitari­an action field. IICO’s cooperatio­n with the Turkish Red Crescent will contribute in providing aid and relief to the poor and needy in all around the world, particular­ly those who suffered severely in war and disaster-torn countries, added Maatouq.

Furthermor­e, IICO has a current significan­t cooperatio­n with the Turkish Humanitari­an Relief Foundation in Syria and Pakistan, noted the Kuwaiti official, expressing his hope in activating the signed MoU between IICO and Turkish Red Crescent quickly in order to implement a number of relief programs in Palestine, Syria, and Africa.

Moreover, IICO has establishe­d partnershi­ps with several UN-affiliated humanitari­an and relief bodies, the Internatio­nal Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and humanitari­an institutio­ns in GCC States, noted Maatouq. — KUNA
