KIB concludes Global Money Week 2017 campaign
As part of the Bank’s strategy to promote financial education and awareness across all segments of the community, Kuwait International Bank (KIB) recently organized an awareness campaign entitled “With KIB, I learnt how to spend and save”. The multi-channel campaign was held as part of the Bank’s participation in the sixth annual Global Money Week (GMW) celebrations, which took place this year under the theme “Learn. Save. Earn”.
GMW is an annual global initiative which seeks to promote financial literacy amongst youth and children worldwide. The annual celebrations are spearheaded by Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI), an organization dedicated to economically and socially empowering children and youth around the world. This year, GMW featured a diverse range of events and activities aimed at inspiring children and youth to learn about money, saving, creating livelihoods, gaining employment and becoming entrepreneurs.
Speaking about the KIB’s participation in GMW, Nawaf Najia, Manager of the Corporate Communications Unit at the Bank, said: “KIB was one of the first banks in the region to have partnered with CYFI, highlighting our strong belief in the importance of spreading financial literacy and economic education amongst children and youth. We have always considered financial literacy to be one of the focal points of our social responsibility program, and we have sought through a comprehensive program to promote awareness of the importance of good money management amongst every segment of the population.”
This year KIB chose to celebrate GMW with a dedicated, multi-platform campaign, which focused on educating youth about the basics of saving and the fundamentals of good money management, as well as encouraging parents to teach their children about the values of saving starting at an early age. “With KIB, I learnt how to spend and save” featured a social media awareness campaign which ran throughout GMW. The education-focused campaign also included the distribution of an educational flyer - along with a specially designed piggy bank and a “Habboub Account” educational coloring book to children and parents at the Avenues Mall over the course of the GMW weekend.
As part of its social responsibility program, KIB aims to draw on its vast experience in the financial sector to educate the Kuwaiti community in all areas of finance, business and economics. Within this context, and in line with its efforts to promote financial education amongst children and youth, KIB maintains an ongoing program of school visits throughout the year. The Bank also continues to support “My Business”, the entrepreneurship program targeting school and university students; hosting participants of the program and offering them internship and training opportunities to hone their professional skills and provide them with practical real-world experiences.
