The Iranian cultural attache holds symposium on World Poetry Day
On the occasion of celebrating the World Poetry Day, The Iranian cultural attache held a symposium titled, ‘Al-Shahnama; The Eternal Ferdousi Epic’, which was presented by all of Dr. Mohammed Khaqani Asfahani, teacher of Arabic literature at Esfahan University, Mohammed Sarkhouh, Kuwaiti poet and writer, and Sameer Arshadi, teacher of Persian literature at Kuwait University.
Sameer Arshadi launched the event with thanking Souad Al-Sabah Printing House for printing and publishing this Epic. He recited words of Dr. Souad Al-Sabah at the beginning of the Al-Shahnama Epic, who said that this epic great example of the Persian literature presented and very exciting way of writing. This epic consists of 60 thousand verses, and is considered one of the most important literature works in human history. “The writer Abualqasim Al-Firdousi spent 30 years writing this epic, which became an eternal book,” noted Arshadi.
Kuwaiti poet and writer Mohammed Sarkhouh stated that Al-Shahnama means (the Letter of the Kings). “It’s a letter addressed to all kings and leaders all over the world in all times to encourage them to take care of their people, giving them their rights, and not oppressing them. Al-Firdousi advices them to spread love between people instead of aggression,” he pointed out.
Dr. Mohammed Khaqani Asfahani expressed his happiness of the cultural and intellectual activity in Kuwait. “Over 40 thousand poets were active in Iran within 14 centuries since Islam came to Iran. These 40 thousand poets became popular internationally, and Al-Firdousi was on top of them. I advice all Arab intellectuals and writers to read Al-Shahnama, and discover the precious Persian literature,” he stated.
