4th Constituency MPs, where are you?
Today, I am talking like a voter from the fourth electoral constituency, not like a political analyst or columnist. I have been writing for years now and have never criticized anyone personally. In this article, I am acting more like a voter or rather say, as someone who has a constitutional right to select the representatives of the constituency he lives in.
I am particularly talking about the fourth electoral constituency MPs, what they are doing, what they have done and they are expected to do later in this parliament. Unfortunately, though they consist of 20 percent of the parliament’s lawmakers, they have neither individually nor collectively done anything to develop the fourth and largest electoral constituency; Jahra that voted for them and brought them to parliament as representatives.
Following up their proposals, statements and actions, we find that Jahra is the least of their concerns as they have only used it as a gateway to get votes and make it to the parliament before they completely forgot about it.
Have any of them demanded improving its parks? Have any of them drawn the attention to any of its facilities or streets? Have any of them talked about people’s demands? The Answer is NO. For instance, Jahra streets are disastrous. None of them have ever asked the Ministry of Public Works to repair its streets, of which some in Al-Qasr area have been in need of over five years now. None of them raised the subject because it means nothing to them simply because they only represent Jahra without living in it. Even those living in Jahra forget that they are in parliament. I do urge the fourth electoral constituency MPs to only visit the second street in Al-Qasr, block 4, to know what I am talking about.—Translated by Kuwait Times
