Amir opens Shaheed Park annex
Park a touristic, cultural landmark: Diwan official
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah patronized and attended yesterday the opening of the second phase of Al-Shaheed Park which is located in Sharq. Accompanied by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Amir was received at the park by Deputy Minister of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah and top executive at the Amiri Diwan Abdulaziz Saud Ishaq. After the initial ceremony, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah and the accompanying delegation took a tour of the park’s second phase facilities. His Highness the Amir was accompanied by Sheikh Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber AlSabah, Sheikh Faisal Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad AlAhmad Al-Sabah, and senior officials of the state. His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad and His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad were given presents during their tour of the park.
Al-Shaheed Park 2, with a strategic location at the vibrant center of Kuwait City, is a landmark of civilization and tourism, Ishaq said. The second phase of the Al-Shaheed Park, accomplished by Kuwaiti hands under the supervision of the Amiri Diwan, was achieved and handed over in a record time, Ishaq said in a statement after the opening of ceremony.
He stressed His Highness the Amir’s keenness on enhancing the cultural and civilized dimension of Kuwait, as well as his support to development projects. His Highness the Amir closely followed up all the stages of the project, with its cultural corners, built in line with the latest international techniques, considering the preservation of the environment and power, he added. The Amiri Diwan official lauded the efforts of the Kuwaiti youth who managed to accomplish the project four months ahead of the set date.
Shaheed Park 2 includes various facilities covering an area of about 100 square meters, with an extraordinary design, a waterfall across it, in addition to a fountain and a lake. It also has restaurants and coffee shops where visitors can enjoy their time, besides a wide hall for about 500 people, a walking-track and a car park with the capacity of 970 vehicles. One part of the park was designed to represent Kuwait in the past and the present so that visitors can get acquainted with the old and the modern architecture through the different eras in Kuwait’s history, he said. — KUNA
