Applied Behavior Center of Kuwait celebrates International Autism Day
The Applied Behavior Center (ABC) of Kuwait celebrated the beginning of Autism Awareness month by organizing an awareness event at Al-Shaheed Park recently. The event was sponsored by Artspace Studio and MMC catering, and included an array of fun and educational activities for adults and children, spreading awareness for autism and showing support for this cause.
Some of the activities at the event included an interactive autism time tunnel by ABC staff, demonstrating the evolution of autism treatment approaches throughout the years, leading to today’s therapy gold standard, ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy, as well as arts and crafts activities, a mural for children and adults to paint on, live music by Artspace studio team and many more fun activities. “Many families have had their lives changed forever thanks to early intervention. But, sadly, the lack of awareness in our societies means that a lot of children with autism don’t get the chance they deserve at getting better.
That is why the UN dedicated a day to Autism every year. On April 2nd, people around the world wear blue, and world monuments are lit up in blue, to raise awareness for Autism. “We are happy we represented Kuwait on this international day,” stated Dr Abdullah Al Ali, Co-founder of Applied Behavior Center of Kuwait (ABC).
Autism Day is an internationally celebrated event and official UN holiday, where monuments light up blue, walkathons take place and many people and organizations come together to show their support and to spread awareness about autism.
